Next Year: LIVE FEED
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas out there. Occurring during Tucson's coldest weekend of the season, the BICAS auction showed the warm spirits of local artists, cyclists, and enthusiasts for both. I only enjoyed the pleasure of helping in pre-public affairs on Saturday, but from pictures and reports from friends, the place was packed like penguins. What better way to enjoy art and support a cause than while huddling for warmth. Survival never looked so fabulous. Despite the drawbacks of an open-air facility, the Whistle Stop blew me away. The patched, post-industrial building chicly set the scene for an organization that has salvage in its name. How fitting. Kudos to Casey, BICAS staff, and the owners-restorers of Whistle Stop for a wonderful setting. I thoroughly enjoyed snooping around while stringing lights and hanging works on paper. At one point, I thought I was getting a clue (South Park/Hardy Boys reference). My biggest regret was the lack of time I had to participate. Many others who helped out on Saturday morning expressed a similar dilemma. Next year, I want a live feed camera set up on location for those wishful students stuck at home completing exams and papers. First nominee to make it happen: Leon de la Rosa. Do I hear a second?
