On November the 8th I and my group held our bottle cap workshop in the center of the U of A mall, which I personally think was a successful event. We set up our prepared materials on a table, such as plenty bottle caps which were spray painted with a white mate color, to allow students to draw on them. Along with sharpies and color pencils, as well as an instruction sheet to give them ideas on different designs they could draw. we also provided plenty of blankets to sit on and some treats as well. We also nicely adorned our table with floral table cloths which I think was a perfect touch to making a nice display and presentation to students walking by. There was also a nice big banner stretched across the table stating, support the arts which seemed to also grabbed people’s attention as they were strolling by. Students seemed as though they were lured in with all the fun everyone was having. As well as excited and interested in the workshop, especially with seeing our class drawing uniquely crafted and extremely artistic bottle caps. It was really wonderful seeing everyone’s unique artistic style come alive on a very small canvas of a bottle cap top. The designs were so beautiful and delightful, their were drawings in portraiture, abstract, animation, patterns, animal designs and the list goes on. We would explain to the passers by the benefit of contributing one of these designed bottle cap, which would in turn be place on a final art work which would then finally be donated to the BICAS art auction to support the community organization. Some students didn’t really want to create a craft so we gave them the option of just coloring in a bottle cap already designed, or people also took it upon themselves to just donate. Over all it was a great event, and it was wonderful to get the word out and inform people about BICAS.
