Preparation for our Workshop!

A few weeks ago, after finalizing our plan to create coin bags, sunglass cases, and keychains for our October 20th workshop, our group began to gather materials and spend a lot of time at BICAS. Although I did not accompany my group to BICAS on the 15th to clean and gather materials I had made a few previous trips there my self to gathered materials and become familiar with what BICAS does for the community. I did this in order to successfully explain what BICAS is and does to people who have never heard of it or community based art projects in general. This proved to be helpful because there were many people who stopped by and asked questions the pamphlets alone could not answer.
The workshop on October 18th, a much needed test run, also helped me with this because I walked around the mall advertising and talking to anyone I walked passed trying to get them interested in our workshops. Admittedly I may have scared a few people by coming on too strong. As I became more comfortable attacking people, with art as my accomplice, I developed a good way of communicating what it was we were doing and how BICAS was incorporated. This valuable field time helped me develop what I would do and say to get passers by interested in our awesome little booth!

Next up actually putting it into action at our workshop!
