This is more fun than spokey dokes!

Our Bike-Bag-Making-Free-Spoke-Card-Taking Workshop is over and it was great! I can’t express how perfectly everything went. Our preparation really paid off as people started showing up. We were able to quickly explain the project, hand them an instruction sheet for reference and then they got started making bags. The pre-cut patterns were a smart idea and people were able to quickly decide on which oil cloth pattern they wanted and start sewing. Also, I was relieved seeing that there wasn’t any confusion about the instruction sheet I made. It was largely up to the bag maker to decide the finer details of their bag and I was really amused seeing all of the great ways people were interpreting the clasp part of their bike bags. The variety of bike parts as clasps adds a really whimsical element to the bike bags and is one of the best parts of working with recycled materials because you never really know how something is going to turn out. It’s up to your mood at the moment and the materials in front of you. Everyone thought of really interesting ways to add personal touches to their bags and although we had a lot of the finished product laid out with the pre-determined patterns, each bag came out uniquely charming with each persons’ personal touches. Throughout the workshop I was continually pleased with the hard work our group put into the preparation and the dedication of BICAS and our class in making our workshop a success. I was especially happy to see a BICAS regular who pedaled all the way to the University to participate in our workshop. I was glad to know that BICAS has a solid following as it is, and hopefully or workshop made head way in exposing the University community to the wonderful things that BICAS does.
The color even matches the bike!! How serendipitous is that?!
Emily and Kim help our devout BICAS pedaler attach he newly crafted bike bag!

And although some were hard to let go, out spoke cards were a hit! I think it was really smart to have a free element that we could hand out that was still able to advertise for BICAS and be something quick and easy that everyone could partake in.
Don't they look great! I kind of wish I hadn't out that one of Willie Nelson..it would have really tied my bike together.
