Well, we have gathered our wonderfully decorated bottle caps and Amy has prepared the background board for our auction project, now it's time to put it all together! Most of the group is meeting tomorrow in order to attatch the caps to the board, but I can't because tomorrow is my birthday! I'm having a big family party so I worked on our project this afternoon. I used a hot glue gun to put a bead of glue around the bottom edge of the caps and I pushed them down gently to fix them onto the board. I was able to complete the whole front wheel on the inside of the tire. I didn't realize how tough it would be fitting the edges of the caps together while trying to form a nice circle. I tried to make the outline of the tire first and fill in the shape row by row, but somehow I was left with a few ahkward little spaces. Once I stepped back away from the piece it came together and looked pretty good. The process was fun and relaxing sort of like putting a puzzle together. I remember conversations I had with people at our workshop as I look at some of the images on the bottle caps. This will always be a fond memory for me because it is so rewarding working with so many people on an art project for a great cause(Bicas of course!). I wonder what type of reaction the piece will receive at the auction?!
