Is Tucson Pop-Up Friendly?

Two weeks ago, downtown Tucson hosted one of its first major pop-up galleries. At the corner of Congress and Fifth, the Tucson Museum of Art sponsored a one-night only pop-up gallery inside a new condominium complex. Called the "Tucson Shot Rock," the pop-up gallery gave bar-goers and Rialto-revelers a sampling of their new exhibition Who Shot Rock & Roll. From speaking with people who attended the pop-up gallery, it was a great success and a strong marketing device for the TMA, which regularly tries to persuade the youth of Tucson to cross over Stone Avenue into the wild West of downtown. Working with Kasey Stewart, we wish to give BICAS a pop-up gallery for the same reasons - to generate buzz for BICAS and to encourage college students to support downtown organizations.

As of tonight, the date has been set! So get out your calendars and your markers (go ahead, give it a sniff) and slate the date: Wednesday, November 16th, from noon to 4pm on the UA Mall. Kasey and I have started accepting artworks for our pop-up gallery. 2-D, 3-D, hell, even 4-D, we'll take it if it's bike-related and BICAS-proud. Please contact either Kasey S. or me, Stuart, to arrange drop off and pick up (BONUS: if your artwork is small and lightweight, we can deliver it to BICAS on your behalf for the auction).
