Sunglass cases, coin purses, and keychains! Our workshop!

On October 20th my group facilitated our scheduled workshop on the U of A mall. After gathering the necessary supplies, making some samples, creating an instruction sheet, and becoming more comfortable with BICAS we were ready to successfully do so.

Our group arrived about an hour early on the day of our workshop in order to set up all the necessary materials including the tent, tables, and a lot of information on BICAS. Our workshop consisted of making sunglass cases, coin purses, and keychains using old bike parts. For the sunglass cases and coin purses we sewed together bike tubes, using our instruction manual, with many different colors of thread. We also sewed small bike parts on the pouches so that they we closable. For the keychains we use small bike parts like nuts, bolts, bearings, and disks threaded them together with wire and attached them to key rings.

Our main purposes of the workshop were to expose the community to an easily accessible art based project and get the word out about BICAS and their annual art auction.

Although the workshop consisted of mainly our class mates, we had a few people stop by and make a sunglass case or coin pouch including Dr. Shin!
We also had a lot of people stop by and ask for information on BICAS or donate money to BICAS.
Our workshop was highly successful and fun! We raised a lot of awareness about BICAS while creating some awesome products to sell at their auction!
Up next, the art auction!
