My group's workshop focuses on increasing awareness of BICAS, their auction, and producing a collaborative UofA community art piece. In our desire to parallel BICAS' sustainable practices, we have been collecting bottle caps from various restaurants throughout Tucson; and spray painting them white to create a miniature canvas for the participants to express themselves. Thusly, creating art from perceived trash. During our workshop we will provide the UofA community black sharpies and colored pencils to decorate as many bottle caps as they desire while spreading the word about BICAS and their art auction. Oh, and there will be otter pops. Double points.
We are hoping that this process will create a communal bond, linking each contributor to the art piece, and ultimately enticing the community to witness their art piece being auctioned off during the the 16th Annual BICAS Art Auction on Sunday, 4 December 2011 from 6-9PM.
